where i live, the most concentrated one you can get is 9% for both chemicals

do you guys distill them yourself to get 99% sulfuric acid and 37% ?

or you just live in a blessed country that sells concentrated one?

Here where I'm from hydrochloric acid is no problem, but regarding to sulfuric acid you can't buy higher then 15% without having some business. It's possible to buy 10% or 14% and purify it, which is quite practicable until some point of concentration. Getting it to 98% by distilling is another thing...

chemistry told me that at some point of concentration, i will get stuck just by distilling them
on my own and wont get desired concentration.(quite nasty process also) it would be best to just buy concentrated product which is not possible from where i live

Purifying to 60-70% is quite practicable and enough for several nice workings, getting near to pure by fractionating distillation is really nasty and nothing funny to do, yes. So of course finding some supplier where you can buy some is way better.

I've processed 50 liters of 14 % sulfuric acid into distilled batches of strength ranging from 90 to 98 %.

It's trivial to reach 80 % concentration which is the maximum reachable by simply boiling off water. Above 80 % the boiling acid starts producing too much SO3 which negatively impacts the yield. Just heat H2SO4 in a beaker on a hot plate, use a magnetic stir bar to continuously stir the acid (that is extremely important to eliminate bumps and pockets of overheated acid) and just let it go until it reaches 200 °C. You've just got yourself some 80 °C sulfuric acid that is not pure but is sufficient for many applications.

It isn't practical to continue beyond 80 % as the losses will be huge, the yield will be low and the acid will not get any more pure. To achieve pure acid it must be distilled which is doable but quite dangerous. I would never attempt it without glass-coated magnetic stir bars as stirring is critical throughout the process. Ask me if you have specific questions.

Just one short offtopic question but I don't know where to ask about it...

If my JS is disabled like it is all the time I can't write any reply in still existing postings.
I just can answer by making some new post reply. To make simple in-post reply I have to enable JS, write the reply and disable JS again, what is quite a pain in the ass. Anyone else having this problem?

Please move to some other section if there is any dedicated for such questions.
