If it's regulated in your country you can try buy it on black market. Your 2B4M supplier will most likely have some available

According to the method in this video, what should I do if I don’t have acetone?
you can try to rinse with very cold ethanol/IPA and do acidification with water but keep in mind that acetone is most suitable.

Note : maybe acetone is called differently where you are, try to search for the name "propanone"

What is the CAS number of propanone?Thank you

Can someone tell me how much hlc to add and how much distilled water to add, what proportions?

Why people say this video is amazing?? i see a lot mistakes here and bullshit. First of all maker should learn what is mol and how to calculate reactions. You dont need such crazy amount of methylamine for only 125g BK its pure waste. Secondly only 250 ml of ethyl acetate as only solvent? especially when it is not good solvent for BK. It is far away from enough. And without heating its says only 20 min to be ready?? with so bad solvent and far away of enough amount?? crazy wish xD
PS if you want know why ethyl acetate is bad solvent read about polarization

Do you know the actual date that video was made? Things have progressed a lot better since then

Post your video. methylamine isn't expensive unless you are getting ripped off, so using it to catalyse the reaction is an economical use of it. Thatb is why this whole method works better than you are fantasizing, the excess methylamine has a purpose.

Did you try do this reaction?? I dig in deeper and ok i understand why so excess amount of methylamine, because it is also reacting partially with ethyl acetate. But in room temperature, and with so much excess it is reacting faster with bk. But still this is only ably to be pull off in vacuum. In video it says that reaction can be done without vacuum. Bullshit like hell, mixing in room temeperature this thing outside of vacuum will take hours. Thats mean there will be a lot shit in it because of so much methylamine reacting with ethyl acetate. Thats why NMP, DMSO or Toulen are a lot better. NMP is not reacting with methylamine and is better in dissolving bk. Reaction ethyl acetate with methylamine gives N-methylacetamide (NMA), in this video there is nothing about this possibility. Thats why instead use such no relevant methods like color change nowadays you have very cheap (at least in EU) method like TLC (thin-layer chromatography)

PS its not like i try to shit on this video, just give some pointers, like you told its old video. Its is still good piece of work.

I've done this reaction 5 times, but with 2-b-4-mp. There may be another video with ethylacetate and 2-b- 4-mp. probably. I made my own methylamine from formaldehyde and ammonum chloride, made my owm chloroform to wash it in and distilled methanol out of windshield cleaner, 4 times, but I bought tech, grade methanol the last time.
