ways to make N-Methylformamide (NMF) ?

i have to make a choice between mercury chloride or n-methylformamide for mdma synthesis. i dont want any mercury waste but nmf is a watched chemical so is there a way i can make nmf?

if you have a safe delivery place i would get it from china, as you would PMK. Synthesis isnt simple like the formic acid needed.

N-Methylformamide can be easily prepared in 2 steps. See my answer in another thread:

You could just form methylammonium formate, and use instead. The leuckart works with alkylammonium formate salts. The temperature of the reaction is likely lower however.

Or get borohydride.

The leuckart is very low yielding, but simple and it scales well.
