You can do these things but it won't make much difference in the final product
I never recommend distillation because it is not beneficial

I've probably done this over a hundred times, and distilling and washing with sodium bicarbonate or sodium hydroxide is really a big mistake, because it really damages the structure of the material and creates more impurities.
Secondthoughts glicidic salt is white powder... ( apaan usualy to sotimes slightly yellow) so synthesis from Phenylacetyl-malonic Acid Sodium Saltwould fit to that video same as orange colour, temperatures and pH...
